The Culprit is Farmville! (L)

OK, I admit I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I'm not stupid either!

I was just coming back from a trip to Sam's Club and was listening to the local station that is King of Talk Radio in SW Florida, 92.5 FM. You know Glenn, Rush, Sean and many others. Well on Sunday afternoons they carry the Kim Commando Show. I normally would have turned it off, but she had a caller talking about digital SLR cameras and as I am somewhat of a shutterbug I kept listening. Boy do I long for the days when I shot a good old Nikon F!

After some selfindulging commercials she returned to mention something about Farmville! Not being a whiz on social media (I don't facebook or twitter) she started talking about a city councilman that was fired because he would not stop playing Farmville during council meetings.

As Bro and I are rapidly approaching sixty and I dare not speak for Bro, I had never heard of Farmville. (Now I wish I had not been listening.) Apparently this is a game played on facebook, and is quite popular. Ms. Commando's next comment almost made me run of the road. She stated that there are 75,000,000 ( That's not a misprint, that is seventy five million!) people who play this internet game. That's right folks,a freaking game!

Now one can only imagine the amount of money it costs businesses every day in lost productivity and wages. If even a third of them play for one hour a day while they are suppose to be working that is 25,000,000 lost hours per day! That is the equivalent to 625,000 full time forty hour per week jobs! You know if you have city councilmen playing during meetings that the general public must be playing a hell of a lot more while they are on the clock!

Being of the suspicious type by nature, I would be willing to bet that this is some insidious plot developed by some leftwing whacko to make sure that a good portion of the general population is otherwise occupied so they will not know about what the Marxist-In-Chief was doing. You know "Nero fiddling while Rome burned!" Just have them playing a silly ass game and no one will be the wiser!

I realize I am probably not going to right the ship with this post, but I had to write it! If I can save one soul from their evil game it will be well worth the few minutes it took to post this. We must not let these sly bastards inflict anymore pain than they already have!

Come on America wake up!

  1. Think I have heard of this game in a passing conversation with my step daughter. Most of these games, I suspect are created by lefty geeks sitting in their parents basements so you are probably right---conspiracy, well that may be a bridge to far. However the end result is the same. Nevertheless, it is food for thought!

  2. I play FarmVille, but from home only. I would never play any game online at work--nor would I use work time to shop online, surf the net, blog, etc. All the same thing, really. It's a lack of focus and professionalism. (well, unless your job is blogging or online shopping, you know :p)

  3. Fuzzy,

Sorry! I know you would not steal from your employer, but I bet there are plenty who do. Since I don't use any other social networking sites, maybe I should learn a little more about a topic before I spout off about it from my soapbox!

I guess I'm just not into online gaming of any sort. Does this officially make me an old fart?

  6. I'm here at the office early so I can comment on this as right after reading it, there was a crash of thunder and my internet has been out since...

I don't have a problem with Facebook and other social networking sites, after all if it wasn't for Facebook, we wouldn't have found most of the AWOL Afghanistan pilots...

I'm just never going to forgive people that are either too stupid or too lazy to see what's taking place in this country and not do anything about it...
