  1. A worthy comment from your previous blog. Care to comment on it??

    I am a conservative.
This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy.

I then took a shower in the clean water provided by a municipal water utility.

After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC-regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like, using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

I watched this while eating my breakfast of U.S. Department of Agriculture-inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

At the appropriate time, as regulated by the U.S. Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level
determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank.

On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the U.S. Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its
valuables thanks to the local police department.

And then I log on to the internet -- which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration -- and post on Freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.

  2. Fellow conservative... There are many people who enjoy the regulation and confines of government... Regulations are not bad in and of themselves, it is only when the power that comes with them is abused...

The smart grid may be coming which will regulate how much of that energy you will be able to use, don't care for that...

The FCC is looking into again "balancing" the broadcasting system to make sure the market place does not determine what you are able to listen to... Mark Lloyd and his adulation of Hugo Chaves should be argument enough...

The USDA does not receive the funding required to effectively do its job... Can you say peanut butter, I know it sticks to the roof of your mouth, but that shouldn't be deadly... That of which lends a false sense of security to and about what we eat... The obesity in this country is directly linked to the "safe" processed food in our grocery stores...

The federal reserve is monetizing our debt... They are essentially buying our debt with our own money - though they promised not to, which means that money you picked up at the bank is worth a great deal less than it was yesterday... Still feel thankful for the federal reserve and Back Door Bernanke?

I won't even waste a comment on the US postal service... You were kidding, right?

Our public school systems which indoctrinates our children into the ideology de jeur, teaches a history that never happened - I was there for a good deal of it, and IT invites shame for being an American...

I can't argue with you about the internet... Throw enough spaghetti at the wall and something is bound to stick...

I have friends who actually lived under socialized medicine in foreign countries... I get my ideas and beliefs from a multitude of sources and it does not work. Those with money get treated in a timely manner and those without do not.

    I assume you have money.

There is a new revolution coming and it is to take power away from those entrenched in Washington and give it back to those for whom it was originally intendended... WE THE PEOPLE...

  3. Here are some counterpoints:

FCC regulates so that there are no f-bombs before 11 pm on regular TV including Cable. These regulations are typically demanded by Conservatives.

The obesity is directly linked to more amount of carbohydrates and fatty food. Decrease the proportion of those food and eat more greens and fruits, you would be healthy. USDA checks the products for adulteration and disease. Such as checking that salmonella, botulinum, and E Coli to name a few - don't get in our food. And if it gets they can stop and track them to find the source and act against it. Think about without USDA, anyone can sell a botulinum infected meat in supply chain and you don't even need any other chemical agents.

Yeah, the dollar is worth really really less. You must be kidding with knowledge like that, right???Like you are able to afford a computer now and were not able to afford it 20 years ago. Like you are able to afford a big screen TV now that was unaffordable few years back. How about the cars - yaa, there are fewer now than they were 20 years or lets say 50 years back- right?? you must be kidding man. Without knowing what changes have those policies brought in everyone's life, you are just repeating a rhetoric.

Oh, USPS, this is my favorite. You receive each of your bills and statements, even Netflix and blockbuster dvds, and when you want to send something for cheap people always go for USPS. What did you mean by your comment? Explain it in detail.

Yeah, schools teach the impartial history examined and re-examined by archaeologists who really visit those places and study the proofs and not the armchair historians like you who just are state of self denial about everything. I bet you have never traveled outside USA and if you had it would be Cancun or somewhere in Canada.

You talked about socialized medicine in other countries. USA is my adopted country since my wife's from here and we can't move due to her commitments. I am originally from UK and let me tell you healthcare is much better there. It is actually reverse than what you said. If you are wealthy in UK, you get the same level of healthcare. Over here on the other hand if i get a good plan by paying more money to BCBS, i get better treatment than others. That's what you are saying about socialized medicine. I want socialized medicine because i can't afford a good plan and my deductibles are high so if i get sick i result in getting broke.

What's this talk about revolution? Republicans are the ones with shitload of money. Pharmas, Energy, Coal, Oil and Gas industries, food processing and finance industries are republican heavies. I have yet to meet a rich businessmen who's not republican. For last 8 years there were republicans in power. What happened? Two recessions and one attack and one hell of a debt during the last recession. There was a 8 year Democrat president. What happened? A budget surplus at end of those 8 years!!Republicans were in power in House and Senate from 1994 to 2006. What did they do? They de-regulated the financial markets which led to the greed and recession. Where was Glenn Beck and your cronies? Where was the revolution?

I never liked people who are against their own government. I didn't like people trying to bring down Bush and now i don't like people trying to instigate same for Obama.

  4. George to quote Barney Frank, (he's one of yours) "arguing with you is like arguing with a dining room table, I have no desire to do so"...

I love my country. That is not the issue here.

Quite frankly, I have always been of the opinion that the more someone does for you, the less you do for yourself. This ultimately diminishes you and your self esteem. Americans have always been and independent and self reiliant group. I would hate to see that change. Americans are pretty darn cool

I don't want other people making decisions for me. Ultimately the consequences of those decisions belong to me, so I should have the freedom to make them.

Having "adopted" this country - welcome by the way, perhaps you haven't realized that half the fun of living here is making sure the policians don't get out of line. There was a movement in the sixties which was a riotous good time. Then we all went to work and raised our kids and contributed to society. Now were back.

Republicans/democrats - all the same. The discussion isn't about a party, but what is best for our future. We need to decide where we want to be and then devise a roadmap to get there, where ever "there" happens to be.

Relax - it will be interesting.

I understand the urge for restricting the government and leaving the decisions on individual. there are lots of countries like that right now where there is no government interference of any kind. i.e. somalia, afghanistan, congo or rwanda. on the other hand there are countries where government interference has been a road block for progress. i.e. cuba, mexico, all central american countries, sudan, nigeria, middle east.

What i am trying to say is that there should be a balance. Today's Glenn Becks are not even thinking about balance and they are spewing poison. Democrats are elected by majority. even if its 50.0001% - that gives them majority. My point is to stop spewing hateful rhetoric on TV and inciting crowds which do not know half of the history or context.
For example the issue of Czars - they were put in place first by beloved Ronald Reagan. Nobody bothers to know that. They have been in place since than. there are many such examples.

You don't even have a decent comment on what i wrote in previous post and you just try to hide it by quoting barney frank. whatever i wrote is factual because i work in those industries as a consultant.
