YOU DIDN'T BUILD THAT (P)

What planet does this idiot come from???

Try telling that to the two gentlemen I have worked for a total now of 8,395 days... Yes tomorrow July 17, 2012, I will begin my 24th year here... I'm not going to plaster the name of the company all over the blogosphere, but think if you will about what a couple of men with Norwegian heritage might name their carpentry company... (I think there's an NFL team out of Minnesota that goes by the same) In 1978 they along with a third partner who is no longer involved with the company loaded up a box van with their families and a dream and moved from New Jersey to Cape Coral, Fl... Well if our Buffoon -N - Chief is correct, all they did then was wait for government to make them a multimillion dollar a year company employing upwards of 200 men and women... NOT!!! They busted their asses day after day working sun up until sundown in the field and then estimating jobs at night... They mortgaged themselves to the maximum financially and fortunately for them Jimmy Carter was defeated in his reelection attempt and one Ronald Reagan was elected... This was someone who knew and appreciated the American Dream and helped millions of Americans achieve it...

They were already established and one of the premier carpentry sub-contractors in S.W. Florida when I rolled into their office for my first interview in June of 1989... Here I was, a 38 year old quadriplegic fresh out of spinal cord rehab with plenty of construction experience, but who had never done any form of estimating in his life... My interview was with the senior estimator and it went something like this...

Question:    How much estimating have you done?

Answer:     None

Question:   What construction experience do you have?

Answer:    I was born the son of a lumber yard owner, I had splinters in my diapers... I passed my state contractors exam in 1981, except in the early seventies when I was into my leather craft and sandal making, construction of one form or another is all I've ever done...

Question:   Do you think you are physically up to the job?

Answer:   Does a 100 pound bag of flower make a big biscuit? I know you never answer a question with  a question, but it was taken properly... Followed by if need be, I'll come in earlier and stay later...

Interview concluded with this "we have several other applicants to interview, I'll give this to the owners and we will be in touch... Called back to meet the owners a few days later... Meet the owners who are holding a yellow legal pad like the one the senior estimator was holding during my first interview... We exchanged the obligatory pleasantries after which they said that on the sheet beside my name were two words, they turned it around so I could see what it said and they were"Great Attitude"... Like I said tomorrow starts my 24th year and it's been the most rewarding 23 years of my life thus far... I remember in 2003 one of the owners saying it was our 25th anniversary and what should we do to celebrate, to which I said "how about hitting 10 million in revenue"... He replied, "that's a pretty lofty goal"... We barely accomplished it, but we did, and for the four following years met or handily exceeded that...

Then came along a president who doesn't believe in the entrepreneur or small business owner... He would prefer you become a slave on the government plantation, or at least be a public sector union worker... This man has the unmitigated nerve to question Mitt Romey's ability to create jobs and grow the economy when he's never even worked in the private sector... His mentor growing up, Frank Marshall Davis was a devout communists, he was a community organizer (never quite understand what the hell that entails) and spent his little time in the senate voting present, well except for voting to approve late term abortions... Now as the president of the greatest country on earth, he prefers to bow to Saudi princes, apologize for our exceptionalism and push his green agenda, which has cost the American taxpayer billions of dollars aka "green backs" which is as close to green as it gets... He has caved to the far left wacko environmentalist on domestic drilling and stopped the Keystone pipeline which has killed jobs and retained our dependency on foreign oil... He and his cronies crammed Obamacare down our throats, something that 2/3 of the American public oppose and will cost us trillions of dollars while dramatically reducing the quality of health care that no other country on earth enjoys... (side note, has insured that the company I work for will never again exceed 49 employees unless this is repealed)

Now here's what keeps me awake at night, but kicks my ass out of bed every morning... We can have "Hope and Change" the minute we kick this Commie loving, America hating P.O.S. out of Washington and out of our lives... He's already stated that he will never run for elected office (he'll settle for nothing less than dictator) again and Lord knows he'd never lie to us, so it's up to us to get rid of him...

You see, I have 22 years left on my mortgage and after the absolute failure of the president to turn things around, we should hold him to his promise of "if I don't turn this around in 3 years, it's a one term proposition"... Just in case one of the owners reads this, it's not that I don't love my job, but I don't want to work until I'm 83... Oh sure, blame it on my lack of planning, but that's another post all together...

Kick Obama Out 2012...

  1. William Cook's life serves as a prime example why Obama has no concept of how businesses work and how to ever fix the economy. Cook, a wealthy businessman and entrepreneur single-handedly revived an entire dying sourthern Indiana town called French Lick. After making billions from designing medical devices, employing thousands, he financed the historic restoration of West Baden Hotel and French Lick Hotel. The county had previously suffered more than a 25% unemployment rate and today has every kind of construction to help support the traffic now visiting these wonderful historic preservation hotels and casino. Cook didn't revive this town and all the ensuing businesses because of government, he invested his hard-earned money and the state THEN invested in better roads to offset the traffic. A business background should be the minimum experience of a president facing these horrible economic times.

    1. Well all I can say is where are Mr. Cooks tax returns, nobody gets rich on my watch... ooops, my inner Obama was coming out... The fact is this country's history is filled with stories like this, it's what Americans do... We aren't dependent on government, government is dependent on us and our hard earned taxes... We will start to return to greatness the second we kick this commie out...

It's wonderful that you were all rewarded with such success and happiness with the work...

By the way, Obama's telling your company owners now that THEY didn't do it by themselves...the government did it...it built the streets, the bridges over which their product drives, etcetc...does he not understand that WE pay for the GOVERNMENT? $$$ Or, maybe it's me....??

    1. Thanks Z, by the grace of God, we're keeping the doors open, but we're not going to flourish until we can kick Obama out... Thankfully Obama built the roads I travel to and from the office every day... Sometimes I'm too hard on Barack, no I'm not, I'll stop lambasting this jerk the day after Romney is inaugurated,

  4. My boss, was literally kicked out of her home by her step-mother when she was only 16-years-old. She was on her own, but somehow finished High school and received her diploma. Then she worked three jobs and put herself through college to become a doctor. Her business was all on her own, with no outside help.

    She is a true inspiration.

Obama doesn't know what he is talking about.

    1. It's people like our bosses that made this country great, not snot nosed community organizers... He came close to "Fundamentally Transforming America" but thank God we woke up in time to get our country back...

  5. I am glad Z linked me here to your article Born Again. Very inspirational.
Too bad Obama can't see past his own nose to know how it's hard work and risk that creates revenue so he can run his imperialistic government. Without it he's just an ordinary street agitator.
Hey did you realize it Romney picks Rubio it will be 'MR/MR-2012'?
