This morning my alarm rang at 3:00 and I'm saying to my self "are you out of your freaking mind"? That's when I realized, what if Thomas Jefferson and the rest of the founding fathers had just hit the snooze button, rolled over and gone back to sleep, where the hell would our country be today... You see, I was on a mission, I was going to meet Glenn Beck... Sure it was under the pretense of getting my copy of "Arguing With Idiots" signed, but it was much more important than that... I was going to meet with literally hundreds of my fellow patriots who are fed up with the direction this country has been headed and just like our founding fathers, are willing to sacrifice what ever it takes so we can leave our children and grandchildren a country worthy of the name United States of America... So what at the time seemed totally against anything and everything my body was telling me, I got up and put on a pot of coffee... Larry was soon to awaken at his house and we were going to meet at Borders (the book store) at 5:00... Well Larry made it there on time (thanks Bro) and I came waltzing in about 5:30, pulling the gimp card... I just take my wheelchair, it works every time... I'm telling you the crowd that had already gathered was amazing and the 4 plus hours waiting for Glenn was spent sharing war stories about Tea Parties, and just wonderful camaraderie...
The time finally arrived and Glenn got on a bull horn to quickly address the crowd saying that he's learned a bit about community organising in the past year and guess what, two can play that game... Later today he will be at "The Villages" here in Florida to layout the plan he has to turn this country around... (not to worry, the DVR is already set) He eluded to the fact that it's going to take a large effort from each and every one of us and I for one am ready and up to the task for as we all know failure is not an option... Then he began the book signing and though everyone was only afforded around 5 seconds, Glenn was so personable and when he told you God bless you, you knew it was heart felt and it allowed you to understand that even at his elevated stature, he's one of us... (I bet he even puts his pants on one leg at a time) I did get a chuckle from Glenn when I gave him one of my "WILL WORK FOR FREEDOM" tee-shirts just in case he ever fell on hard times...
I met several wonderful people from the Collier and Lee County 9/12 Project... Click on the link below, you can join or at least click on Glenn's photo to see a slide show of the event...

I also met people older than myself (believe it or not, one of them being my twin brother Larry who is a full 10 minutes older) but what gave me the greatest feeling was all of the young people who were there... The liberal professors and teachers didn't pervert (not from a lack of trying) all of our young Americans...
OBTW, did I mention:
I MET GLENN BECK TODAY!!!
P.S.
I'm not exactly sure what happened, but the broadcast from "The Villages" didn't air, but Glenn posted this on his website:

There's a growing level of "community" in so many places these days. It's great that you had a chance to meet Glenn and he treated you well.
ReplyDeleteThe turn out at The Villages was excellent but I think the logistics for Glenn's tour was too tight for an on-time arrival. He was late on Friday for the book signing in Orlando and he missed the 3:30 arrival on Saturday by about 40 minutes. That probably affected the afternoon broadcast on Fox and caused the network to rerun the Friday interview..
Glenn said he was lead in to the Ft. Myers signing by the Keystone Cops, hence he was 30 plus minutes late arriving... I'm sure it just compounded on the Tampa stop and ultimately his stop at The Villages...
ReplyDeleteThe important thing is he's working on a plan to get us out of this mess...
It's so cool( part of me is still in the 60's) that you and Larry went to the signing and met Gleen Beck and that you gave him the shirt. I hope it shows up on his tv or radio show. Things like this and the Tea Party's and such give's me hope for our county's future.
ReplyDeleteInstead of "peace and love", it's "conservatism and freedom"... Doesn't quite have the same ring, but like 1968 and the "summer of love", we're going to have 2010 and the "summer of freedom"...
ReplyDeleteMy wheelchair and hundreds of thousands or a million plus is not a good mix, but what the hey, Lord willing I'll be in Washington August 28th to show my support for the refounding of America...
Bill, give Patty a hug for me and have a great Thanksgiving...
